It was a whirl-wind weekend with my parents, sister, aunt, and uncle coming in for Annely Blake's baptism today. Each article of clothing or piece of jewelry she wore held special meaning: A tatted cap made by my great-grandmother and worn by my grandmother, mother, and myself. Baptismal gown worn by Will 2 years ago and by my sister 26 years ago. A gold and sapphire pin which I wore on my wedding day. A gold cross necklace made by my aunt Janet. After the service we all came back over to our house and feasted on ham, napa cabbage salad (believe me, you want the recipe to this one! thanks Sarah:)), fruit salad, potato and green bean salad, and white cake petite fours with pink booties iced on the top. I joked around to my uncle as they were leaving; "hey, maybe we'll do it again in two years!" Don't read too much into that :)

As promised, another picture of her in the gown and bonnet my grandmother sent from Charleston.

A surprise gift from my parents; a new Kenmore sewing machine! I'm excited to see what I can create with it. I'll keep you posted on the journey as I delve into my creative side. (I'm neither patient nor a detailed person so this should be interesting...)

Congratulations on the baptism and she (and the rest of the fam too!) looks beautiful!!!

I too receieved a sewing machine recently...my strongest bit of advice: carve out a space in your home for the machine and supplies. You will not want to pull it all out every time you want to sew because believe me, someone will be awake/needing something/crying by the time you get everything ready to actually sew. :)
